Thomas Carlyle once said that the true university is nothing but a collection of books. The library is a place for lifelong and endless self-learning. And not only the students, but the teachers, scholars and researchers - all are learners in the library. Be it a public library or attached to an educational institution, a library always stands with its individual entity as a place of learning
Maharaja Manindra Chandra College Central Library (MMCCCL) was started along with the establishment of the college in 1941 in order to cater the academic needs of the faculty, students and non-teaching staff of the college. The Central Library is situated on the 2nd floor of the main building of the College. Library has a collection of more than 42,000 books. Departments offering honours courses have individual seminar libraries. A library software SOUL2.0 has been purchased and installed in our computer system. Computerised databases are being developed aiming at a fuller automation of the library operations.
The library collection, regularly and judiciously updated, meets the general academic purpose of the students as well as teachers and research scholars attached to this institution. Books are presently accessible through card catalogue. Here is a brief status of the collection up to April 2017.
