LOCATION: A FOCAL POINT IN THE CITY’S TRANSPORT NETWORK

Situated on Bhupen Bose Avenue, very close to the Shyambazar Five-Point-Crossing, the college enjoys a coveted location with the shyambazar Metro Station at its doorstep and Bagbazr Ferryghat within walking distance. Thus in addition to its easy access to Central Calcutta, the College can claim its proximity to Calcutta;s suburbs. It is conveniently connected by bus, metro and launch with diverse locations as Howrah, Sealdah, Dum Dum, which enables students to commute from South/North 24 Parganas, Howrah/Hooghly district.

EXTENSION OF CAMPUS

The college also boast of its adjacent Vidyasagar Vigyan Bhavan, that houses Bio-Sc. Labs, Common IT Labs, an Audio-Visual Editing Lab (Journalism) Science Research Laboratory and a Multi-Gym for both student and staff.

AIM & OBJECTIVES

The college aims at imparting quality education in Science, Arts, Commerce and Vocational streams to the students (both boys & girls) from lower and middle class stratas of Kolkata and its adjoining areas. It proposes to maintain creative thinking and unity in diversity. It intends to provide traditional teaching and cater to job-oriented courses as well. Looking forward to meeting the demands of fresh studies in modern areas of education, the departments of the college organize powerpoint presentation, film shows, educational tours, students’ seminars, etc. to improve students’ receptivity. This college also extends co-operation to two other colleges in the morning and evening shifts. It serves the morning shift hons. Students (Nutrition) by providing them opportunity to attened chemistry classes (theory/practical) during the day-shift. The Netaji Subhas Open University Study Centre (NSOU) is already well established and flourishing here. The college provides opportunity to different organizations and universities for holding examinations.
